On December 15th from 11am to 10 pm River Park Square is going to be the place to be for shopping awesome, locally made gifts. They’ll be taking over the two first floors of the mall with booths, live music, family friendly activities, and a bar stocked with No-Li Brewhouse beers and Townshend Cellar wine. Packed with thousands of sweet gifts for everyone on your list – Terrain is turning Christmas shopping into a party with this wintertime bash.

It’s almost the first Friday of October, and we know what that means – Terrain 11 is coming! Come join hundreds of artists and dozens of performers as we gather to celebrate the new ideas and the vibrant artistic culture we have here in the Inland Northwest. This event is free tomorrow night (October 5th), and will begin at 5pm in the Jensen-Byrd Building. Not a fan of crowds? No problem! Tickets are available for purchasing now if you want to get in to the preview night happening tonight! Tomorrow will be a night full of art, music, and so much more! See you there!
This is something new: Spokane’s first ever urban pumpkin patch! Come join Downtown Spokane as the celebrate this season with food, music, beer, and pumpkin picking. Fall Fest is happening October 13th, from 11am to 10pm on the Wall Street Festival Street. Admission is free! There will also be great activities for kids going on until 5pm. The pumpkin patch will only be open in the morning, so show up early to get that pumpkin you’ve been dreaming about all summer!
The very first Indaba Fest is coming up this weekend! Now’s your chance to find out why everyone’s talking about Hello Sugar’s mini donuts, and enjoy some great Indaba coffee. There will also be food trucks and live music at this free event, which will take place on Saturday, the 15th, from 11am to 6pm at Olmsted Park in Kendall Yards. Don’t miss this great opportunity to celebrate with your neighbors in our awesome Spokane community! Also, did we mention the mini donuts?
Unfortunately, summer won’t last forever. As back to school time begins and we start to think about colder weather, take advantage of these last few sunny weeks to explore some of the greatest summer activities in Spokane.
Take a stroll through Manito Park. With it’s five, incredible themed gardens spread across ninety acres of land, this park is a beautiful place to relax as we say goodbye to our lovely Spokane summer. Kids who may be less interested in a leisurely tour will enjoy climbing around on the playground, and seeing the ducks in the pond. Whether you take a brisk walk, or just sit for a while admiring the scenery, Manito Park offers a pleasant, fragrant atmosphere.
Go for a ride around the Skate Ribbon. Whether you bring skates or scooters (just make sure you bring a helmet) the skate ribbon is awesome during the summertime. Not only do you get to enjoy a smooth, entertaining ride, but you’ll also be misted with water from above – making this one of the coolest new ways to get some exercise in our city!
Get a great food truck lunch on Tuesday or Friday. Whether you take advantage of Riverfront Eats or Food Truck Friday, getting a food truck day in before summer ends is a must. Live music at these events makes them even more fun, so check out the truck lineup for both locations.
Grab some fresh produce at one of our farmers’ markets. There are thousands of farms in Spokane County, so it’s pretty easy to locate a farmers’ market – no matter which neighborhood you live in! Every Thursday the South Perry District hosts a farmers’ market full of friendly faces and high quality produce. You can also find farmers’ markets on 5th Avenue, Hastings, and several other locations. For a fun twist, we’d recommend visiting the Kendall Yards Evening Market. They have a great time each Wednesday evening, packed with street food vendors, live music, and of course, locally grown, baked, and crafted goods to take home and enjoy.
Walk, jog, or bike around Riverfront Park. Not only is this a beautiful option, but you’ll also get to see some familiar, iconic Spokane stuff. The garbage eating goat, for example, never gets old. Exploring this area is one of our all-time favorite options, because there’s always something cool going on. Check out Sunday Fun Days, Art in the Park, and several other great park events.
Antiques, crafts, and junkin’, oh my! The Pickin’ Spokane Vintage Show & Artisan Market will be taking place this weekend, the 18th-19th, at The Joe Albi Stadium.
We were lucky enough to get to talk with the folks running this event at Past Blessings Farm. This press release contains some more information on this eight-year-old tradition:
“Having outgrown our 1898 Farmstead where Pickin’ on the Prairie, now called Pickin’ Spokane, was held since 2010, in 2017 we moved to the Spokane icon: The Joe Albi Stadium.
“Ron and Brenda Buckingham, the owner and creators of this show, had to finally accept the bittersweet knowledge that it was time to leave their beautiful country setting for last year’s show. The country roads were too crowded, the pastures too full for parking and there was no more growth left for more vendors. Not wanting to lose the charm and character their farm was known for, the Buckingham’s knew it needed to be replaced with not only a bigger location, more conducive for the amount of traffic and people this show brings, but they also wanted something that spoke of the people of Spokane and their history. ‘The Joe Albi Stadium was a perfect fit,’ says owner Brenda Buckingham. ‘It not only gave us the space we needed to bring in more vendors and allow for more parking, but it also gave us a chance to share in the legend this Spokane Icon has been a part of over the years.’ Known primarily for high school football games, this well known stadium has also housed Elvis Presley, Sting, Monsters of Rock Evil Knievel and even the Billy Graham Crusade. ‘We love the idea of bringing more community events back to this arena and adding to that sense of community we once had and all still crave,’ Says Brenda. This will be the biggest Pickin’ Spokane Vintage & Artisan Show yet, with 150+booths of vintage, artisan, repurposed and reclaimed goods, handmade furniture, industrial decor, farmhouse style, signs, jewelry ad so much more, this show is one not to be missed.
“At Joe Albi Stadium, 4800 W. Wellesley (near Assembly) Saturday, August 18th from 9 to 6 and Sunday, August 19th from 10 to 4 Admission is $7.00 and is good for all weekend with a hand stamp. Children under 12 are free. Service Dogs only please.”
Another great art festival is coming up this weekend! On August 18th, Unifest 2018 will be jam packed with art, music, and awesome food. This event is $5 at the door, at the edge of Kendall Yards. Doors open at 3pm, and the food trucks will open at 4pm. This is a great event for the whole family, and you’ll have the opportunity to wow your kids with your amazing Giant Jenga and Connect Four skills. Don’t miss out!
It’s almost time for the 39th annual Pig Out in the Park! Admission to this event is free, and you won’t want to miss it. There will be 47 food vendors open in Riverfront park from 11am to 10 pm August 29th though September 3rd. There will be live music playing on 3 stages, and $4 Bites Special Hours from 3 – 5pm and 9 – 10pm every day.
There’s going to be a party in the Garland District next weekend! The Garland Street Fair will be happening all day on August 11th. Vendors will be there with art to admire and buy, as well as great food, live music, and an awesome car show. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to support your local businesses and have some fun with friends and family.
Bounce, dive, and hustle this weekend at The Great Inflatable Race! This is a super fun, kid-friendly event happening this Saturday at 9 am, at the Dwight Merkel Sports Complex: 5071 N Assembly St, 99205. Regular tickets are on sale right now!

A fun and free way to spend your time this summer: making art in Riverfront Park! Spokane Art School is giving free art classes in the park, teaching students several different techniques, including watercolor painting, printmaking, and more. Show up at noon at the Sky Ribbon Café for registration. The class is from 1 to 3pm on July 14th and 28th, and August 18th and 25th.
One thing we’ve always loved about summer: the food trucks! On the south bank of Riverfront Park, trucks are serving some incredible food every Tuesday for Riverfront Eats. This is where you want to be for lunch, so show up anytime between 11am and 2pm for a good time! This is a great opportunity to enjoy live music, eat a delicious meal, and support Riverfront Park. Who doesn’t need another excuse to explore our incredible downtown area? Well, retailers and restaurants downtown are offering a special experience for Spokane known as First Friday. Enjoy art showcases, live music, and special promotions between 5 to 8pm on the first Friday of every month. By teaming up with the Downtown Spokane Partnership, businesses downtown put together a great event for art lovers – every month!
